General Enquiries

If you would like more information about what the DVLA does or you have some general enquiries about their services please call the number above to speak to a member of their customer services team. The DVLA is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, they deal will nearly everything vehicle/road-oriented if you have any problems call the number provided or if there is something more specific you need help with look for the right number listed below.

Vehicle Tax

If you need to tax your car there are multiple ways you can do this. You will need your reference number to tax your vehicle, you can find this on your recent reminder or last chance letter, your vehicle log book or if you have just bought a logbook you can find it on the ‘new keeper’s details’ green slip. You will need to pay this through credit/debit card or through direct debit. If you do not know how to tax your vehicle or you’re having difficulties taxing your vehicle please call the number above to be directed straight to a member of the tax team from DVLA Customer Services.

SORN

If you have taken your vehicle off the road because of damage or you’re keeping it in a garage or you do not want to drive anymore you will need to tell the DVLA that you’re taking your vehicle off the road. When you do this you will receive a refund for the remaining months of tax and you will not be able to use the vehicle until you tax it again. To immediately take your vehicle off the road you will need to call the number we have provided and have the 11 digit number from your vehicle logbook and your registration number on hand as a member of DVLA customer services will need it to complete this process. To take your vehicle off the road from the first day of the next month you need the 16 digit number that can be found on your vehicle tax reminder notice, please be aware that you can only use this number once. If your vehicle isn’t in your name you will need to tell the DVLA your vehicle is off the road by post.

Driving Licenses

V5C

A V5C logbook is a document that contains all information relating to the registration of a vehicle and information about the vehicle itself such as registration dates, the vehicle’s manufacturer, the colour of the vehicle, the engine size of the vehicle and who the vehicles registered owner is. It is important to keep you V5C updated with information such as names, addresses, vehicle modifications or if you plan to sell the vehicle.
