Zara is a Spanish retailer operating worldwide, with almost 8,000 stores. It is a fast fashion brand selling clothes, shoes, and accessories for women, men, and children. There is a separate brand, Zara Home, which sells home furnishings as well. Despite being fast-fashion, Zara has a reputation for being on the pricier side. They don’t offer discounts for students, though they do have general sales sometimes. Zara also has a reputation for enforcing a harsh returns policy in stores. Read this guide to find out how to return Zara items if you placed an order from the UK website or in a Zara store. You can also find out how to exchange an item from Zara if you need a different size.
Zara UK Returns Policy
Zara allows 30 days from the date of purchase for customers to return products. You can only return or exchange a Zara item in the same country as you bought it in. If you are returning an item to a Zara store, then you must have the receipt. Zara will not accept returns or exchanges, even for a credit note, if you cannot provide the receipt. They do not accept bank statements as proof of purchase. You can provide an e-receipt or display this through the Zara app if you have it. Items such as fragrances, lipsticks, and accessories must be in original packaging with the seal intact. Swimwear must still have the hygiene sticker in place. Zara only accepts underwear returns and exchanges for tops, bodysuits, and child vests. Otherwise, they should accept all returns in original condition with the tags on.
How to Return Zara Items
If there is a Zara store near you, then you can return items there free of charge. However, the store must have a section selling the items that you are returning in order for them to accept these return items. For example, you should not try to return clothing to a Zara Home store or return cosmetics to a Zara store that does not sell them. You just need to present the item in its original packaging and your receipt or e-ticket. If you placed an order with an electronic device instore, then you can only return the items in a Zara store. This is the same as making regular purchases instore. If you are not able to visit a store, then you can arrange a courier collection in the “Orders and Returns” section of your Zara account. You should follow the return instructions and re-package the items in the original parcel. A courier will collect the parcel from your address on a specified date. Another option is to drop off the parcel at a Post Office or Royal Mail branch. You must request a pre-paid returns label through your account as above and print it off. Always retain proof of postage. You can use other methods to return items at your own risk.
How to Exchange Zara Items
As with returns, you have 30 days from the purchase date to request an exchange at Zara. You can only exchange the same item in a different size and/or colour. If you want another item instead, then you have to return the first item and purchase the other one separately. You must hand over the original item and show the receipt in order to get an exchange. It also depends on whether the Zara store has that item in that size or colour in stock. You can ask for an exchange through your Zara account and return the original item within 14 days of making the exchange request. You will not be able to select the exchange option if the item is no longer available online. Zara restricts exchange requests to 2 per order. However, you can request to exchange up to 5 items with each request. You will not be able to exchange items this way if you paid with a gift card; you will have to go into a Zara store. If you do request an exchange online, Zara will send the new item within 2 – 3 days. If they do not receive the original item back within 14 days, then they will charge your original payment method for the current price of the exchange item.
Zara Gift Card Returns
Gift cards are available to buy from Zara stores and the website to load money onto and give as a present. You can use them to pay for online orders or instore. Gift cards are automatically activated unless you order them online, in which case you must activate them online yourself. As long as the gift card has not been used, you can return it for a refund within 30 days. They will issue the refund back to the payment method you used to purchase the gift card. If you request a return online, you won’t have to send physical gift cards back to Zara. The gift card will be unusable after that. If you have made a purchase from Zara using a gift card, then return it, Zara will refund the balance onto the same gift card. If the gift card doesn’t exist at the time of the return, then Zara will issue a credit voucher to that amount. If you use multiple payment methods then request a partial return, the refund will not go onto the gift card.
How to Get a Refund from Zara
Zara will send an e-mail confirmation once they complete the returns process and issue a refund. You should get in touch with your bank and then Zara if you do not receive a refund within 14 days of receiving this e-mail. The refund will go back to the payment method which was used to make the original purchase. If you return your entire order, then they will refund your delivery charges as well. However, they will only refund the cost of standard delivery, even if you paid for a more expensive faster delivery method. Zara will examine return items when they receive them and decide if they will reimburse you. If they decide that there is damage or evidence of mishandling, Zara might deduct any amount from your refund up to the value that you paid for the item. You should report any faulty items to Zara before returning them, so that they do not hold you responsible for the damage and withhold a refund or exchange.
