Waterstones returns and exchange policies
If you wish to return your item to Waterstones you need to have a valid receipt or dispatch note and need to be returned within 30 days of purchase in the condition you bought the item in. If you purchased an electronic item it needs to have the seal unbroken to be valid for return, unless they’re faulty then you can receive an exchange. If your item is faulty or damaged you are able to return it for a full refund. Your refund will be issued in the form of your original payment. You cannot receive a refund for Waterstones gift cards. You can exchange your items if you would prefer instead of a refund.
Return your Waterstones items via post
If you ordered your items online you can return your items via post. Unfortunately, if you purchased your items in-store you need to return them using the method below. To return your items via post you need to follow the instructions on your dispatch note, this will be included in your original packaging. You need to fill out the reason for returning the item using the provided codes. You will then need to stick the freepost sticker on the front of your package over your address. If you have lost your dispatch note you can still return your package you will just need to write the freepost address on the front of your package or print it out. The freepost return address is:

Return your Waterstones items in-store
If you purchased your items online or in-store you can return the items at any of the Waterstones stores in the UK. You just need a valid receipt or dispatch note and it needs to be in the condition you purchased it in unless it is faulty. You need to go to a Waterstones store with the items and valid receipt or dispatch note and then take it to a till or customer service counter, where they will be able to issue you a refund via the method you originally purchased the item with. Alternatively, you will also be offered an exchange if you would prefer it.
Return your Waterstones items via international post
If you are not in the UK and you would like to return your Waterstones items you will have to pay a delivery fee. You need to enclose the dispatch note in your package showing the order number and write whether you want an exchange or return. You then need to send it to:
