Halifax is a British bank which began as a building society in Yorkshire in the 1800s. Today it is a division of the Bank of Scotland, which is itself part of Lloyds Banking Group. There are hundreds of Halifax bank branches that are open during business hours, in addition to round-the-clock phone support. Halifax offers credit cards whether customers have a Halifax current account or not. It is important to pay off at least the minimum amount on your monthly statement and on time. Otherwise, they could charge you extra fees and it will damage your credit score. Read this guide to find out all of the different ways that you can make payments towards your Halifax credit card.
Halifax Online Card Management
When you create an account with Halifax, you can register for online banking. This will allow you to sign into your account and access banking features from your computer. Or you can use them from your phone with the app for mobile banking. You can view your credit card statement, view your transaction history, and make new payments. When you pay from a Halifax current account, you can use online or mobile banking to pay off your credit card. In your account just select “pay credit card” and then “a new recipient” if it is the first time. When you have to enter the bank details under “pay a bill” you should use the details on your credit card bill. It can take up to 4 working days to process payments made this way. You need to allow enough time before the payment due date for it to go through.
Halifax Credit Card Telephone Payments
You can say “pay credit card” when it asks you to give the reason for the call in a few of your own words. To skip all of the automated options, you can press star and zero (* then 0). It will ask you to enter either your account number or your credit card number to proceed. You might have to confirm information such as your date of birth for security. If you just want to use the automated payments line, press # initially for self-service options. You can enter the amount that you want to pay and the date that you want the payment to go out. You can make a payment using a debit card from any bank. Speak to a person to get help with telephone banking.
Halifax Credit Card Direct Debit
An easy way to make sure that you never miss a payment is to set up a Direct Debit. You can opt to clear the full balance or pay just the minimum balance on your monthly statement. Or, if you prefer, you can set a fixed amount or percentage in between. Halifax will collect your payment on the same date every month. You should be able to set up a Direct Debit in your account using mobile or online banking. If you want to cancel a Direct Debit, you can do so at any time, but you must give Halifax notice of at least 4 days before the monthly collection date. You can make extra one-off payments at any time to clear your balance faster. However, doing so will not reduce your Direct Debit amount. Be careful not to end up overpaying if you are clearing the final amount of your credit card debt. You can contact the bank to get a refund for an overpayment. Contact Halifax if you need help setting up a Direct Debit.
Halifax Credit Card Cash or Cheque
If you are not a fan of digital payments, you can still make manual payments in traditional ways. You can pay a visit to a Halifax branch, bringing your credit card and statement with you. They can assist you with making a payment with cash or by cheque. If you prefer to pay by cheque, you can also do this through the post. However, you cannot pay with cash by post. You can write a cheque which is payable to Halifax Bank and use your credit card number as the payment reference. You should allow 7 working days for the cheque to reach them. Send cheques by a secure postage method to: Halifax Card Services, PO BOX 109, Sheffield, S98 1GE. You can contact Halifax if you want to check that they are processing your cheque and that the payment will go through on time to avoid late charges.
