Nationwide is a British bank that was founded in 1846 as a building society. It is the only building society left in Britain that is still operating as a bank. How to Close a Current Account
If you would like to close your Nationwide current account you can do so by logging in to your online banking account. You then need to click on the ‘view accounts’ button and select the account you wish to close. You then need to select the ‘other account services’ option which can be found on the left side of the screen. You should see the ‘close account’ button you need to select this and you will be able to follow the online instructions to close your account. The money that was remaining in your account will be sent to your home as a cheque.
You can also close your current account by visiting your local Nationwide branch, you will also be able to receive the remaining balance of you account in cash if you wish to.
How to Close a Savings Account
To close your Nationwide savings account you need to log into your online banking account, you should transfer the remaining funds in your savings account to another account otherwise it will be sent to your home as a cheque. After you have logged onto your online banking account you can follow the above instructions to close your savings account.
Some savings accounts will need to be closed by going to your local branch as you cannot close them online.
How to Close a Credit Card Account
You can call the customer service team from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 8 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm on Sunday. You will be asked to verify your identity and your account to allow you to cancel the account. You will need to have paid off any outstanding payments before you can close your account.
